Plastics that suit the job

Picked for what the part has to survive, not for what prints easiest — UV-stable outdoors, carbon-stiffened where it must not flex, foamed where weight is the enemy, rubber-soft where it has to give.

Cut and engraved

Wood and leather cut to shape. Anodised aluminium and coated steel marked by burning the finish back to the bright metal underneath. A rotary axis takes round objects, so a logo can go onto a bottle, a tumbler or a tool that already exists.

Where hands beat machines

Leather sewn onto printed frames — phone cases today, more of it coming. Wood stained and lacquered. The laser cuts to the millimetre; everything after that is hands.

Leather doesn't have to be new. Old bags and jackets were made when hide quality still mattered — reclaimed leather brings age and character with none of the compromise, and is often better material than anything sold new at the same price.

About the studio

Deep In Layers is a custom design practice first — functional parts, FPV drone upgrades and storage systems engineered for precision, plus original sculptural pieces. Modelling, printing, cutting, engraving and finishing all happen under one roof: cut to the millimetre by machine, then worked by hand where hands do it better. Nothing gets handed off half-done, and there is nobody else to blame when it doesn't fit — which is exactly why it does. Solved problems also live on as ready-made files, for anyone who'd rather print than wait.

How a quote works

NO PRICE LIST

Every job is quoted on its own — not to hide the number, but because it genuinely varies. Some parts take an afternoon. Some take weeks of modelling and test prints. A price list would mislead you either way.

TIME

How much modelling, and how many iterations before it actually fits.

MATERIALS

What it's made from, and how much of it goes into the finished piece.

SCALE

One piece, a small batch, or a design built to be produced over and over.

You get a fixed number and a date before anything starts. Nothing gets made, and nothing gets charged, until you agree to both.

ROUGHLY WHAT TO EXPECT

HOURS An adapter, a bracket, a mount — something with one job to do.
DAYS A part with real fits and loads, and a few test prints to get there.
WEEKS A finished product, a branded batch, or a design built for production.
